The 1st of September! There is definitely an autumn chill in the air as a new academic year starts, and we all get back into some sort of routine, whether that’s heading back to the office or school, or working from home. September always brings with it a sense of optimism and renewed sense of energy for the months ahead, so our Independent Oxford events round up this month brings together events to inspire. From art and culture to fitness and food, there’s something to help you feel connected and grounded this month. >>

ARTS, CRAFTS & CULTURE

31st July – 19th October 2020: David Armitage – A Survey Exhibition at The Jam Factory. David Armitage is one of the UK’s leading abstract artists and colourists, and this latest show is a survey of over five decades working as an artist.

Friday 4th September: The Ultimate Picture Palace reopens! Check out their website for  their autumn listings.

9th September – 3rd October 2020: The Painted Garden by Fletcher Prentice at Sarah Wiseman Gallery, exploring the artist’s personal vision of a garden as an Arcadian space where nature and a more cultivated garden co-exist in equilibrium.

Thursday 10th September: Online Shakespeare Workshop with Open Stage Arts. Find out how to approach a Shakespearean text as an actor.

FITNESS & WELLBEING

Sunday 20th September 2020: Fitness on the farm with The Project PT! Have fun flipping tyres and pulling battle ropes around with new friends, before finding some space on your yoga mat and reconnecting with nature.

Saturday 26th September 2020: Creating the perfect yoga playlist with Yoga Venue. A great way to learn more about yoga and music.

FOOD & DRINK

Friday 11th & Saturday 12th September 2020: The Jericho Cafe are currently hosting a season of pop up supper clubs and next month the line up includes fine dining from Nood and themed feasts from Gravy & Custard. Every Saturday: East Oxford Farmers Market with indie traders such as L’Altre Vi, and lots of great local producers to choose from.

Saturday 12th & 26th September 2020: North Parade Market with traders including Barefoot and Cranston Pickles, and swing by 2 North Parade too for fresh local produce.

Thursday 17th September: Indie Oxford Meet Up with Katherine and Sarah from Ox In A Box talking about what makes a good story.
