The Ultimate Picture Palace is Oxford’s oldest and only independent cinema. With only one screen they can afford to be picky and show only the best of the mainstream, as well as classics, epics, indies, foreign, documentaries and even the occasional musical! Their art deco auditorium has 108 seats and the small bar at the back serves drinks and snacks for customers to take to their seats before the start of the film. They don’t show adverts – just one or two trailers for upcoming films – which means the feature starts promptly at the advertised time. Ultimate Picture Palace are open every day of the week for two evening screenings, with matinees on Saturday, Sunday and Thursday. They also have Dementia Friendly Screenings on the first Wednesday of every month and Baby Club (for mothers and babies under 1) every other Thursday.
