Stallholder Focus: Kina Ceramics
Our Independent Oxford Christmas Market is under 2 months away, and we can now reveal our awesome line up of traders! Over the coming weeks we will be inviting our indies to tell us a little more about their companies and share the products that they will be selling at the market.
Today Kina Gorska from Kina Ceramics talks to us about her business.

Tell us about your business Kina.
My name is Kina Gorska and I am designer and founder of Kina Ceramics studio and gallery in the heart of Oxford. I make quirky bone china crockery and giftware decorated with authors drawings, vintage photography and genuine gold or platinum. I like combining simple and clean forms with objects that already exist in nature, I create pieces in porcelain to make functional objects. Shapes of fingers, faucets or spikes instead of handles may intrigue or surprise when it comes to traditional crockery, however, the items remain fully functional. Many of my designs are inspired by organic shapes or natural processes like deformations, melting or dripping.
Tell us a bit about yourself, your role and what you enjoy most about your job.
The best bit about my work is starting a new project. In those moments I feel like a child on the playground!

Describe the gifts you will be selling at the Independent Oxford Christmas Market.
At the Independent Oxford Christmas Market I will be selling a wide selection of my fun and elegant cups, mugs, bowls and bestselling Christmas baubles.
All my designs are made by me in my Oxford based studio. Each of them have different stories and inspiration.
My Alice Tea Set was inspired by the Mad Hatters tea party, but also porcelain itself as a material that has a tendency to misshape and deform during firing. I thought, if this is something natural to porcelain, why should I reject it? So I designed a classic tea set with distorted and deformed surfaces and rims decorated with gold that “accidentally” drips down the side.
My products are luxury but not expensive, prices vary form £12 to £60.
