THE OXFORD WINE CELLAR CONFIRMS OPENING DATE
The Oxford Wine Cellar, the newest venture from Ted and George Sandbach the father and son team behind The Oxford Wine Company and Sandy’s, has confirmed it will open its doors to drinkers and diners in the city centre on Wednesday 4th October.
Bookings are now live for the High Street venue, which will be open every day of the week serving drinks, light bites and coffee.
Oxford’s newest bar, which is opening on the corner of the High Street and King Edward Street, will have one of the city’s largest wine lists and will welcome locals, students and visitors to the city.
Guests will be able to choose from more than 200 different quality and affordable wines from all around the world as well as an array of beers, spirits, soft drinks and tapas.
Following an extensive renovation and refurbishment, the versatile venue has been transformed into a tasteful, relaxed space spread across two floors. The ground floor will accommodate a large bar and seating area while the basement has become an authentic wine cellar where guests can enjoy a more intimate drinking and dining experience.
George Sandbach, Director of Oxford Wine Group said: “We’ve been waiting for this day to come for some time now and we can’t wait to open our doors in the city centre. We’ve been working around the clock to transform the venue into a unique and exciting space and we can’t wait for everyone to see it.
“We hope The Oxford Wine Cellar will become a go-to destination for people in the city centre to enjoy a glass of wine with friends, family and colleagues. We will open on 4th October and guests can book now through our website.”
The Oxford Wine Cellar is the latest addition to the family-owned Oxford Wine Group portfolio which includes the Oxford Wine Company, the Oxford Wine Café, Sandy’s Piano Bar and Little Sandy’s in Witney. The family-owned, independent wine merchant has four retail shops around Oxford and a successful wholesale arm.
George added: “Following the success of the Wine Café in Jericho, we knew we wanted to bring the popular concept to the city centre. The interesting and dynamic wine list will be a unique offering in Oxford and we are confident it will have something for everyone.
“For anyone looking for a great night out, this will be the place to go. Guests will be able to enjoy a relaxed drinking and dining experience at The Wine Cellar before heading across the road to Sandy’s Piano Bar to complete their night out!”
