ABOUT

Jessica Holzhausen is a freelance writer and artist based in East Oxford. As an artist, Jessica mainly works in acrylics, oil and pastels. She finds inspiration in the natural world, real and imagined places and her favourite subject: trees. Like trees a lot of her paintings tell a hidden (hi)story. Open for commissions. Next to painting landscapes, Jessica has a passion for creating wearable art pieces, like hand-painted bags or purses and jewellery from wood, copper, beach glass and recycled materials. Her handmade pieces are available at art and craft markets in and around Oxford. Jessica Holzhausen teaches beginner friendly art workshops in Oxford – from jewellery and fabric painting to introductions into landscape paintings. For many years Jessica has worked as a journalist and freelance copywriter with experience in SEO and online content optimisation. She is offering SEO content and blog writing services, especially for small businesses and creatives.

I always had a creative streak for which I found an outlet in writing short stories, crafting and occasionally painting with acrylics. I started to fully rediscover my passion for painting in 2019 and bit by bit developed my painting practise first as a hobby and then a side-business. The amazing art community in Oxford and attending art markets gave me the confidence to quit my fulltime job at a marketing agency in summer 2025 and start my own freelance business. I now split my time between art, writing and teaching painting workshops.

Three women celebrate outside the upcoming Everybody Studio, a yoga, Pilates and barre studio. The shopfront features large "Coming Soon" window graphics in a warm peach and burnt orange botanical design. All three women have their arms raised in excitement — one stands to the far left in a dark long-sleeved top and black leggings, one in the centre wears a black sweatshirt, and one strikes a dynamic pose in front of the signage in a dark zip-up jacket and patterned leggings. The entrance doors to the unit are visible to the right.NewsNew yoga, Pilates and barre studio opens in Botley

One woman in the centre wears a purple patterned jacket and has bright red hair; another woman to her right has short silver hair and a green jacket. Two men wear wide-brimmed hats. The setting appears to be a garden in an overcast daylight.NewsCowley Road Carnival comeback: fundraising drive for focused 2026 event to help pave the way for full return in 2027
