Summer is here and even if the weather isn’t behaving, Indie Oxford members have got some incredible events lined up for you come rain or shine.

From tasty food to awesome gigs, exciting exhibitions to fun festivals, there is something for everyone.

We hope you enjoy spending time enjoying the indie scene in Oxfordshire, supporting small businesses and meeting people from the community.

CHANGE IS BREWING Craft Beer Festival

Tap Social Movement invites you to slide into the glory that is Oxford summer at its third-annual CHANGE IS BREWING beer festival, which takes place at its taproom in the Curtis Industrial Estate on Saturday 22 June from 2pm – late.

This third edition of Tap Social’s annual celebration of independent UK craft beer is shaping up to be the biggest and best one yet!

Tickets £10.

OXFORD COMEDY FESTIVAL

Oxford Festival Fringe Preview Comedy Festival will take place from 28 June to 28 July at venues across Oxford. This month-long festival will see over 50 acts previewing their Edinburgh Fringe shows, and will featuring some of the best and boldest comedy voices in the UK.

Venues include Tap Social Movement, The White House by Tap Social, and Trinity College.

DIVINE SCHISM: RHODRI DAVIES

Rhodri Davies is immersed in the worlds of improvisation, musical experimentation, composition and contemporary classical performance. He plays harp, electric harp, live-electronics and builds wind, water, ice, dry ice and fire harp installations and has released seven solo albums.

Art markets take place every last weekend of the month, showcasing the talent of local artists and helping to build the creative community in Oxford.

Drawing Club… Idioms

A fun and approachable opportunity to liberate your creativity through mark-making. Open to everyone; beginners, enthusiasts and artists alike!

Each session will have a focus, but by no means is this a class. Get distracted, make mistakes, collaborate and start again. Free to attend – booking in advance is essential.

Saturday 1 June, 5-6pm at the Old Fire Station.

Worton Supper Club – Grisher Bhuribhoj – A Bengali Feast to welcome the Summer

A first for Worton as the Monthly Supper Club welcomes guest chef Roshni of Tikka and Tadka.

‘Grisher Bhuribhoj’ which simply translates to a summer feast in Bengali. Roshni will be cooking up a Bengali menu which is very close to her heart as she grew up in Kolkata, India eating these very dishes.

Saturday 1 June, from 7 -11 pm. Delivery/collection from Worton Kitchen Garden – Glasshouse. £60 for 6 dishes.

Tetiten Swarane Tandur: Hear the Seeds Sing”

Fusion Arts Oxford is proud to present Tetitan Swarane Tandur – “Hear the Seeds Sing,” an immersive art exhibition in collaboration with Soboman Artspace 219 from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The exhibition, which will take place during Great Big Green Week, delves into pressing global issues such as climate change and food security, using art as a powerful medium to provoke thought and inspire action.

8 – 16 June, 11am – 6pm (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) at Fusion Arts, Gloucester Green.

The exhibition is presented with a series of events including workshops, dinners, tours and performances.

THE OXFORD RUM SHOW 2024

Join The Oxford Wine Company to celebrate the wonderful world of rum. At the second annual Rum Show there will be a wonderful group of producers to showcase this industry’s fabulous diversity of style and taste.

You’ll meet rum makers, talk to experts and brand ambassadors, and taste some of the finest rums on the market. Your ticket price gets you entry to the event, as well as an unlimited number of rum samples to taste at the event.

Saturday 29 June, two sessions: 2 – 4pm or 5 – 7pm, each £30.

Plenty to do at Flo’s

First up, is the Kids Bop on Friday 7th June. Show off your dance moves, make your own pizza, and hang out with the local community.

The Early Lives Equal Start drop in continues every Wednesday lunchtime. It’s a free and friendly space for those who are pregnant or already parents, to chat to maternity advocates about any issues.

Walk, Talk and Tea is a new walking group meeting at Flo’s every Friday at 2 pm.

Also every Friday is the gardening group volunteering meet up. You can help enhance the gardens, meet other like minded people, and get a tea and cookie from the cafe as thanks.

Story Explorers runs on Mondays and Fridays for 0-3 and their parent/carer. £5 per session, you can enjoy story time and a song with Fern the fox.

Rainbow Families drop in continues on Mondays from 1.30 – 3 pm. Celebrating and welcoming all families from the LGBTQ+ community.

Before the school summer holidays descend, pop in on Mondays for the Nature Explorers sessions. Create and play in the park, open to all.

And finally, pop into the cafe on Monday lunchtimes for a pay-as-you-feel meal. Funds raised will be used to support the OX4 Food Crew tackle food inequality in East Oxford.

Mum to be evening retreat

Join Emma (Royal College of Midwives Hypnobirthing Practitioner) and Christabel (Royal College of Midwives, Midwife (JR)) for an exclusive retreat with a maximum number of 8 ladies, for a beautiful summer evening of refreshments, preparing you for birth of your baby, and blissful pregnancy relaxation.

Thursday 20 June, 7-9pm at The Old Dairy Retreat, Upper Heyford.
