Indie Oxford interview: Heal Oxford
Tamara the owner of Heal Oxford in Little Baldon, chatted to Ruba about the story behind the centre, its offerings and future plans. Tamara also shared a snippet of advice for newcomers who may feel nervous about attending wellbeing workshops. >>
Can you tell us a little bit about your business and how it came to exist?
Heal Oxford Wellbeing is the culmination of over 20 years of my personal journey, ignited by a serious car accident at age 19. Led by my dedication and expertise, our centre offers transformative holistic practices curated by a tribe of experts.
My diverse background spans from anatomy and physiology studies to certifications in modalities like Somatic Experiencing and Conscious Connected Breathwork. So my role transcends traditional practices as I collaboratively uncover the root causes of imbalance through bioenergetics, guiding individuals toward personalised health and transformation.
Can you tell us a bit more about your background?
My journey, marked by a debilitating spinal injury from a car accident, ignited my fascination with the mind-body connection and holistic healing, particularly the link between physical pain and emotion.
So my skill set includes functional health nutrition, mindset inner repatterning, and a commitment to conscious and natural living that extends to parenting and wellness practices.
How did it feel launching an independent business?
Initially exciting, launching Heal Oxford faced challenges when my partner had to step back due to health reasons. Despite uncertainties, my passion drove me to dedicate myself fully to the project. This included giving up my full-time job, moving on-site, and navigating the complexities of a start-up while maintaining a steadfast belief in its mission to support total health and wellbeing.
You serve all age ranges, can you pinpoint what’s currently most popular for children and then for adults?
Our current most popular offerings vary depending on age. Neurologic music therapy and cranial sacral therapy are popular for children, with upcoming offerings in natural stress release through somatics.
For adults, deep tissue massage & fascia release, somatic workshops & courses, sound healing, release stress through paint, functional health testing & voice scan analysis, also ayurvedic treatments are booking well.
The quantum energy healing & telepathy workshop with audience participation was particularly well-received and popular.
What would you like to do next with Heal Oxford?
My vision includes raising awareness, expanding offerings with a focus on integrative natural therapy and cell health rejuvenation, increasing children’s participation, and supporting start-up wellbeing businesses.
I want to make holistic healing accessible to all in a serene environment with free parking, contributing to the community by helping others align with their purpose and goals.
Any advice for those seeking out wellbeing techniques for the very first time?
I would encourage individuals to approach wellbeing techniques with an open heart and without expectations, allowing the journey to unfold authentically, and to start where they are, and create micro-changes for longer term results.
Trust and feeling safe can lead to profound transformation and growth, and empower individuals to rediscover their own innate, and powerful healing abilities.
