Tap Social Movement Opens The Market Tap by Tap Social at Oxford’s Historic The Covered Market

Award-winning craft brewery and hospitality company Tap Social Movement has opened a café, bar, and bottleshop ‘The Market Tap by Tap Social’ in Oxford’s historic The Covered Market.

It is the social enterprise’s fifth Oxfordshire venue, joining The White House by Tap Social, the Tap Social Taproom, Proof Social Bakehouse, and Tap Social at Lock29, and a great and much needed addition to the city centre’s hospitality scene.

Co-founder and director Amy Taylor said; “Our team is thrilled to join a fantastic group of independent traders at The Covered Market and to be part of this iconic Oxford institution, we’re so grateful for the opportunity to share our story with more people in our community, and look forward to being a positive contributor to The Covered Market’s remarkable legacy.”

Located in The Covered Market’s central courtyard, The Market Tap will offer 8 craft beers and ciders on draught and 1 on cask, along with pastries from Proof Social Bakehouse, toasties, and a curated range of wines, cocktails, and canned craft beer. Open seven days a week, The Market Tap is one of several traders that will take part in Covered Market Nights, which will see the market extend its opening hours until 11 pm Thursday – Saturday. Other traders taking advantage of the late night opening are The Market Cellar Door, Teardrop Bar, YOU Underwear, The Woolhound, Colombia Coffee Roasters, Gulp Fiction, Sartorelli’s Pizza, Brown’s Cafe and A Taste of China. *

It’s really exciting to see the market coming alive in the evening, offering city centre residents and visitors an way to support local and enjoy the great atmosphere the traders in The Covered Market provide.

Speaking on the arrival of Tap Social in the market, Councillor Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council said;
“After their trial over Christmas we are excited to be welcoming The Market Tap to the Covered Market community. Their arrival is excellent timing, as we announce our trial of later opening hours for the market. They’ll complement the market offering perfectly with their artisan beer and light bites. We’re also very much looking forward to the events they’ll be programming in the central square for both day and night.”
