Getting ready to switch off for summer? Not just yet we hope… The Indie Oxford members have planned some fantastic events for July.

Whether you’re into local pickles, wellbeing workshops, art classes or book swaps, there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes.

We invite you to explore and enjoy Oxfordshire’s indie scene, support local businesses, and connect with community members.

Mindful self-compassion online course

Why is it so hard to give ourselves the same compassion we so easily give to our friends?

Most of us would be kind to a close friend who was suffering, yet we can be merciless with ourselves.

Mindful Self-Compassion is a powerful, research-based programme that teaches people how to start becoming their own best friends.

7th October – 2nd December. Mondays, 6-9pm. £325

Climate Emotions Workshops

How do we, and others, respond emotionally to the climate and nature crises that we are experiencing?

Join the Oxfordshire Climate Cafes team at the OFS Cafe for this interactive workshop. Explore a range of climate emotions including grief, fear and anger. Discuss strategies for managing such feelings in our daily lives. There will be offering supportive discussions in small groups, and some useful materials you can take away with you afterwards.

begbroke science wonder garden party

Science Wonder Garden Party 2024

Visit Begbroke Science Park and take part in experiments, lab tours, interactive talks, trails, science carnival games and art and science workshops and discover more about the research and invention happening at Begbroke Science Park and Oxford University in 2024.

The walled garden will be filled with free, fun hands-on activities with popular favourites returning, plus lots of new surprises – suitable for all ages.

There is also a limited free lunch from 12:30 pm (with vegan option) – first come first served until we run out – but when its gone, its gone – so please feel free to bring additional snacks.

Saturday 13 July, 11am – 4pm. Free.

Summer Exhibition 2024 – Printmakers Show

Sarah Wiseman Gallery is pleased to announce the Summer Printmakers Group Exhibition for 2024.

Exhibiting faces old and new, it will be a celebration of the printmaking process in all their forms, from woodcuts to silkscreens.

Artists exhibiting: Anna Marrow, Vicky Oldfield, Zelga Simone Miller, Lindsey Moran, Clare Halifax, Jonathan Lawes & Angus Vasilli.

Everything on the menu is locally sourced, made from scratch and celebrates the British seasons!

Oxford Art Market

On the last weekend of each month there is an art market where artists come together to show and sell their creative goods.

There’s a nice range of stall holders selling paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, textiles, illustrations and more.

The next dates are 27 and 28 July, held at James St. Tavern OX4.

Book swap club

Everybody Studio opens every month or so to chat, swap books and eat crisps.

Just bring a book with your name in, some snacks or a donation towards costs, and enjoy yourself.

This is a very relaxed version of a book club, where you can borrow books and read them on your own schedule, returning them to the group when you’re done.
