ABOUT

An award-winning independent bookshop located in the heart of Abingdon. Mostly Books offers an excellent range of books, greeting cards, gifts and children’s toys. The team can source most titles ready for collection the following day (subject to availability). They can order any book that is currently in print and even track down some that are not. The team are happy to deliver books within Abingdon for no charge. If the books need to go further afield, they will happily arrange delivery for a small cost. The Mostly Books team has recently grown with the acquisition of a second shop, The Borzoi Bookshop in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Check out the panel discussion for International Women’s Day on Facebook with Mostly Books owner, Sarah Dennis, and her chat to Rosie and Lindsey on the Indie Oxford Podcast about the value of community, the joy (and fear!) of being the decision maker, and her top tips for starting a new business.

Mostly Books Oxford

Being in the book trade is the most satisfying job in the world! We love meeting our customers and suggesting books for them that they may not have tried before. Being so involved in the local community is really important to us and the support we’ve received from customers all around Oxfordshire during the pandemic has been unbelievable.

The shopfront features large "Coming Soon" window graphics in a warm peach and burnt orange botanical design. All three women have their arms raised in excitement — one stands to the far left in a dark long-sleeved top and black leggings, one in the centre wears a black sweatshirt, and one strikes a dynamic pose in front of the signage in a dark zip-up jacket and patterned leggings. The entrance doors to the unit are visible to the right.NewsNew yoga, Pilates and barre studio opens in Botley

One woman in the centre wears a purple patterned jacket and has bright red hair; another woman to her right has short silver hair and a green jacket. Two men wear wide-brimmed hats. The setting appears to be a garden in an overcast daylight.NewsCowley Road Carnival comeback: fundraising drive for focused 2026 event to help pave the way for full return in 2027
