Mederi Wellness is the new name for The Oxford Floatation Centre, which has expanded to include a range of holistic treatments for people in Oxfordshire.

Run by founder Hannah Ireson since 2018, Mederi now offers float therapy in Oxfordshire’s only floatation pods, alongside an infrared sauna, anti-gravity massage chair, massage therapy, and other holistic therapies.

Hannah says: “We’ve expanded treatments on offer at the centre, which has been really beneficial for lots of people who might be experiencing stress, pain or problems sleeping. Our float pods – where you can experience deep relaxation being suspended in half a tonne of Epsom salt and water for an hour – are still a big part of what we do, but the old name no longer reflected the full range of therapies.”

“Mederi means to heal or to remedy and is the perfect encapsulation of our holistic approach, which is about taking time for yourself and doing things in moderation to feel and live well.”

Mederi has also launched a series of bi-monthly meetups at the centre for wellness professionals based in Oxfordshire. The events offer people who work in wellness or related industries opportunities to meet others doing similar work, strengthen their network and try the facilities at the centre.

Hannah says: “Oxfordshire is home to some fantastic wellness professionals who are so good at looking after other people. We wanted to create a space for them to fill up their own cups, find community and connection, and look after themselves.”

I’m really passionate about Independent Oxford and supporting and promoting independent businesses in Oxfordshire. Indie businesses are the life blood of our towns, cities and communities, but they need support to survive and thrive. Creating a network that provides a space for indies to find peer support, knowledge and information is so important, and means businesses are far more likely to continue. Supporting indies means a stronger local economy and a closer, inclusive community for all.
