House of Fun celebrate 10 year anniversary
This year marks 10 years of House of Fun multi-activity holiday camps and after school clubs for kids. What started out as a part-time club supported by family and friends has grown over the years into an award-winning, nurturing community with sites across Oxfordshire for kids from 2 to 13.
Jake Motion, director and teacher, founded the business in 2012 with the idea of supplementing the fantastic work done by schools, by providing extra-curricular and holiday activities.
The father of two said, “As a company with a social purpose, House of Fun has been committed over the years to providing summer camp placements to disadvantaged children, so that they can have the same opportunities as other children to just relax, have fun and enjoy their school holidays in a fun and safe environment. This summer we continued to make progress in this area – we worked with the local council and provided subsidised places through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme at our new Europa School Culham site, and our St Mary & John Oxford site. House of Fun also continued to provide subsidised places for disadvantaged families at all our sites which didn’t have HAF funding.”
House of Fun also aims to create a safe and fun environment where every child can flourish and reach their full potential as a young person.
“It is so rewarding to see someone start their journey with House of Fun as a child attending camp and continue on to become an assistant, and then an instructor. We now have several individuals who have started recently as helpers after previously attending our camps as children.” Jake Motion, director & founder.
So what does the future look like?
House of Fun will continue it’s great work supporting disadvantaged families, as well as continuing it’s Young Sports Leader qualification for 12-15 year olds, and has plans for a new exchange project with older students in summer 2023.
In 2022, House of Fun has also launched it’s new Lego-based after school clubs at Old Schoolhouse, Hertford Street, Oxford. Find out more about Ibrick at House of Fun.
House of Fun multi-activity camps will continue to grow and flourish. Camps are hosted during every school holiday, across multiple sites. Find out more and book here >> www.house-of-fun.co.uk/book-a-camp.
Here’s to many more happy years of House of Fun providing nurturing and inspiring camps and activities for children across Oxfordshire.
House of Fun Santa’s Grotto
This year, the team at House of Fun will be hosting a special Santa’s Grotto at the Independent Oxford Christmas Market on Saturday 26th November from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at the Tap Social Tap Room in Botley. As well as a chance to meet Father Christmas, House of Fun will also be hosting a creative area, so kids can be entertained while you check out the market.
Suitable for ages 0 – 7 years, the House of Fun Santa’s Grotto festive experience is just £5 which includes a chance to meet Father Christmas, and have a go at decorating salt dough decorations and wooden Santa keys (parental involvement may be required with younger children). No need to book in advance, just turn up between 11 am and 12.30 pm. The House of Fun Santa’s Grotto is payable by card payment only on the day.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there! You can find out more about the market traders, Christmas outfit competition and the Bicycle Bloom’s wreath making workshop on the Independent Oxford blog.
