Isle of Raasay Distillery “Na Sia”: Single Cask, Age Statement Whisky Tasting
The Isle of Raasay Distillery is a fascinating whisky producer based on a tiny Inner Hebridean island off the West Coast of Scotland. They began distilling in 2017 and released their first single malt whisky in the winter of 2020. Defined by their unique approach which involves the use of both peated and unpeated malts, the signature Raasay style employs three specific cask types; French Bordeaux red wine casks, American rye whiskey casks and virgin chinkapin oak. When combined these produce a lightly peated style rich in complexity and depth of flavour.
In 2024, Raasay launched their first age statement bottlings. Six single cask releases all bottled at 5 years old, the Na Sia cask series allows whisky fans the chance to taste the distillery style in its purest form. Guided by Scott Fraser, who has been with the distillery almost since its inception, we’ll taste through all six of these sought after limited-edition releases and hear the stories behind their production.
