A Celebration of Georgian Wine and Food
Join us for an evening of fabulous Georgian wine and authentic home-cooked food at the Jericho Wine Rooms.
Georgia has an unbroken winemaking heritage of eight thousand years – quite possibly the longest in the world. Several hundred indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques ensure that not only is Georgian wine historic, it is also utterly unique.
At this tasting, we will taste six carefully selected wines. Included in the line-up will be one white, two amber wines, a rosé and two reds. Several in the line-up were made in the classic Georgian Qvevri – a kind of giant amphora which is buried underground. We are sure that the diverse and delicious line-up will offer everyone something new to enjoy.
Georgian wine culture is inextricably linked to the country’s delicious cuisine, and we just had to give you a taste of authentic Georgian food alongside the wines. Lia Chokoshvili, who until last year ran Oxford’s only Georgian cooking school, has created six different canapés, each paired with one of the wines on our list. Lia’s passion for Georgian food and wine is infectious, and her cooking is simply delicious.
