ABOUT
Spiced Roots is a family-run Caribbean restaurant rooted in culture, flavour and community. Each dish is crafted using fresh, organic herbs from local sources — no powdered seasoning — capturing the real depth of island cooking. From Trini doubles and jerk chicken to slow-braised oxtail and rich curries, every plate reflects the diversity of the Caribbean. With over 100 rums behind the bar and reggae playing softly in the background, the vibe is laid-back but full of life. When you step through the doors, we want you to feel like you’ve stepped onto the islands — warm, vibrant and welcoming, like the start of a holiday. At its heart, Spiced Roots is about more than food — it’s about heritage, connection and creating a space where people can come together. Whether for lunch, dinner or team gatherings, Spiced Roots offers a true taste of the Caribbean right in the heart of Oxford.
For me, it’s all about the food and the people. I love connecting with different kinds of people every day and sharing proper Caribbean flavours with them. Being based on Cowley Road means we get a real mix — students, locals, families — and there’s such a strong sense of community here. Spiced Roots is about more than just a meal; it’s about representing Caribbean culture the right way, learning, sharing, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
