ABOUT

As a ceramic artist, Rachel’s passion lies in creating beautiful and functional pieces that bring joy and a sense of tranquility to their users. She specialises in wheel-thrown ceramics, but also uses the traditional Kurinuki technique to craft tea bowls. Her work includes a range of ceramics, from tea bowls and mugs to vases and serving bowls. Each piece is made by hand, ensuring that no two are ever exactly alike. For Rachel, the joy of ceramics lies in the process of creation. The tactile nature of working with clay, the endless possibilities of form and texture, and the satisfaction of seeing a piece come to life in the kiln are all part of what makes this art form so special to her.

Etta Rain Ceramics

I’m truly passionate about ceramics – and there’s nothing quite like the feeling of creating something beautiful with your hands. The fact that all of my creations are handmade right here in Oxford makes it even more meaningful. Oxford is such a wonderful place, with a unique sense of community that I’m grateful to be a part of. I feel lucky to live in a city that values creativity and the arts, and to be able to share my love of ceramics with those around me.
