ABOUT

Lorraine Berkshire-Roe is an illustrator based in Oxford, dividing her working time between her lovely art shed and house. Her illustrations reflect her love of animals, science, local and social history, buildings and the world around her.

She attends art and craft markets in Oxford and surrounding area, selling high-quality prints of her pen and ink drawings, original art, a small selection of illustrated ceramics and a variety of products featuring some of her drawings: including coasters and magnetic bookmarks. Open to commissions, Lorraine is working on illustrations for local businesses at the moment, alongside a personal commission of a private dwelling.

For many years, she has documented her travels and life’s interesting events in her sketchbook journals. She has been running workshops since May 2025 in the Cluster co-working space in Summertown, which have proved popular, and plans to add more venues over the next year.

I have been an illustrator for many years, illustrating for a wide variety of clients in a design company and as a freelance illustrator. I  returned to my art practice in 2024 after 8 years working as a teaching assistant at a primary school in Oxford. The past year and a half since I returned to self-employment has been an amazing journey: with self-initiated work, commissions and commercial work in progress, as well as teaching at my Sketchbook Journal Workshops which are a joy!
