ABOUT
Common Ground is a social enterprise, providing a shared workspace, café and community incubator hub on Little Clarendon Street. A facilitator for Jericho’s tight-knit community and a stone’s throw away from the city centre, the cafe supports the local arts community by holding regular exhibitions open to the public, along with a wide range of evening events such as writing circles, comedy clubs, poetry, live music gigs and more. Eddie and the team promote a productive and collaborative culture in the space by offering an open platform for any programme or collective relating to art and culture. The space encourages community, collaboration and co-learning. Common Ground is striving to lead Oxford’s post-pandemic culture bounce-back and become a prominent space for arts and the community.
Check out Common Ground: Giving Communities Time & Space To Grow on the Indie Oxford blog. You can also find Common Ground in the round up of The Best Cafes in Oxford on the Independent Oxford blog.
Common Ground believes that diversity in community is the most important value when sharing urban spaces. I’m proud to be part of a co-operative organisation with such a fantastic team which prioritises people, supports Oxford’s growing art and culture scene, and provides a unique space for a vibrant and exciting local community.
– Eddie Whittingham, Owner
Common Ground is Oxford’s indie hotspot. With quality coffee, a great beer selection, and a laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect place to hang out. Their evening events are a blast, and they really embody a community atmosphere.
– Alex Berryman, Owner at B Man Brewery
There’s nowhere else in Oxford quite like Common Ground. Community, coffee, vibes and an events calendar that offers something outstanding every week. Oh, and the bookshop and record shop aren’t bad either!
– Nick Hagan, Owner at Curio Bookshop
