ZonaSur Cinema Club 4: Bolivia
Our next ZonaSur Cinema Club is touching down
on October 14th!🇧🇴📽🤩 Come share laughter, tears, rhythm & stories that transport you across continents! This screening will feature two exceptional films from Bolivia, focusing on the theme of SILENT VIOLENCE.
First, we’ll be screening ‘Beto y Mena’ (Bolivia, 2023, 15 minutes) directed by Felipe Lezo, a short film depicting the everyday life of two brothers from Bolivia based in London. Violence is an ever-present reality in their story, but expressed through micro-interactions and relationships marked by pain.
Our main feature will be ‘A Mano Propia’ (Bolivia, 2024, 1 hr 39mins) by Gory Patino, a story based on a true chronicle of a lynching in Bolivia. This remarkable film explores the consequences of popular justice and community violence in a context where the state often fails to provide citizens with protection or formal justice.
To wrap up, we’ll be joined by a very special guest for a Q&A and audience discussion after the films have shown.
