Join us for an eco-friendly photography workshop at Fusion Arts in east Oxford as part of Great Big Green Week Oxfordshire. In this three-hour workshop, taught by photographer John A. Blythe, you will learn how to produce beautiful blue images using the non-toxic, environmentally-friendly Cyanotype photographic process.

Cyanotype photography is a cameraless image-making method that uses UV light as its developing agent. It was first discovered by English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel in 1842 and was used by 19th century botanist Anna Atkins to create a series of books that documented ferns and other plant life. Through this venture, Atkins is widely considered to have been the first female photographer.

This workshop is suitable for adults (18 and over) and children aged 12 and over who are accompanied by an adult.

This event is part of Oxfordshire’s Great Big Green Week, 8 days of events (18 – 26th September) helping and encouraging people and organisations to act and help tackle the climate crisis, and to protect and improve our environment.

The session would usually cost £35 general admission or £25 for students and under 18s. For this special Great Big Green Week Oxfordshire session, we are instead accepting donations.
