Drawing Club does Dadaism
Drawing Club is a fun, approachable opportunity to liberate your creativity through mark-making! Open to everyone; beginners, enthusiasts and artists alike! Each session will have a focus, but by no means is this a class! We encourage getting distracted, making mistakes, collaborating and starting again.
We’ll be inspired for this Drawing Club by artists from the Dada Movement, borrowing experimental art making techniques from Tristan Tzara and Jean Arp. The connection between these two Dada artists was embracing chance and we’ll be leaning into that energy too.
For context, Dadaism was a movement in Art History that defined itself as ‘anti-art’; disillusioned with the state of the World during the First World War, the Dada Artists challenged the conventions of the day, in often satirical and sometimes absurd ways.
To reassure you, you don’t have to have any prior knowledge of Art history and the Dada movement, or art background at all to be part of and enjoy this session. Come and be creative and have a laugh whilst doing it. All materials are included.
