DESCRIPTION:Come along to Drawing Club – a relaxed\, playful space where curiosity matters more than getting it right. Whether you’ve never picked up a pencil before\, enjoy drawing from time to time or make art every day\, everyone is welcome. \nTogether we’ll discover just how many ways there are to draw the same object. You’ll choose an everyday object before exploring it through the eyes of different artists and creative styles\, from Basquiat to Yayoi Kusama\, Matisse to David Hockney\, Grayson Perry to Hannah Höch and many more. Rather than trying to copy their work\, you’ll use their ideas as playful prompts to experiment and discover new ways of seeing. \nTheme: Ways of Seeing: Objects \nDate: Sunday 13th September \nLocation: Modern Art Oxford\, Cafe \nTime: 11:30am -12:30pm \nCost: £10 \nAll materials included. \nThere are no right or wrong ways to draw\, no pressure to create a masterpiece and no experience needed\, just curiosity. All materials are provided\, so simply come as you are\, on your own or with a friend. \nExpect a relaxed hour of making\, laughing and trying something new. You might discover a favourite artist\, a drawing style you never knew you loved\, and leave seeing a little differently.

SUMMARY:Mapping Monuments: Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Explore the future of Oxford through writing and imagination.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this one-of-a-kind After Hours Studio Session\, you’ll explore the speculative storytelling methods behind Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming and apply them to Oxford itself. \nYour evening will begin with a free guided tour of the exhibition\, followed by the writing workshop; all necessary materials and a complimentary drink are included in the ticket price too! \nYou’ll explore:\n• Creative writing and speculative storytelling\n• Visual mapping and conceptual development\n• Translating future-focused ideas into public proposals \nWhat to expect: \nThe workshop is inspired by Suzanne Teister’s residency at CERN\, one of the world’s leading centres for particle physics research. During this project\, Treister worked alongside scientists to consider how emerging technologies might shape our collective future. In Scientific Dreaming and AI Quantum Dreaming\, she developed systems of writing\, mapping and speculative thinking to visualise possible worlds. \nIn this session\, you’ll use similar creative techniques to imagine Oxford’s future. Through guided prompts and collaborative exercises\, you’ll develop a concept for a new monument or public marker in the city\, considering what should be anticipated\, protected or challenged in the years ahead. \nNo prior experience is needed.
