Oxford’s Sustainable Childrens Clothing Brand Ducky Zebra launches Christmas Collection with a Twist
Ducky Zebra creates colourful, sustainable clothes for babies and kids up to 6 years old, designed here in Oxford. Their designs are free from stereotypes and inspire kindness and confidence in those who wear them. Ducky Zebra have just launched their Christmas Collection with a twist: clothes that feel Christmassy, without being seasonal. The aim of the collection is to enjoy the magic and festivities of Christmas, without creating items that can only be worn once or twice – before being discarded. A Christmas present that keeps on giving!
Sally Dear, founder of Ducky Zebra, recognised that many people want something a little special and festive at Christmas time. Rather than bowing to commercial pressure and introducing something seasonal, she has created a Christmas collection with a twist: something that feels fun and festive at Christmas time, but works equally well all year-round, in-line with their slow fashion principles. A Christmas present that keeps on giving.
Their Christmas collection has a fun ‘space theme’ with child-approved designs, so they know children want to wear them. The clothes are made from GOTS certified organic cotton and include clever features, such as roll-down cuffs to grow with the child and two-way zips for easy nappy changes.
Sally explains “The space theme lends itself well to creating a Christmassy feel, with the white stars producing a snow-like effect, and the injection of red on our characters’ spacesuits feeling merry and festive at Christmas time, and fun and colourful during the rest of the year.”
According to a study by environmental charity Hubbub, many Christmas jumpers are worn only once – and there are already 65 million stashed away in our wardrobes from previous years. Plus, many contain hidden plastic, which most of us aren’t aware of.
Sally says “The aim of our latest collection is to enjoy the magic and festivities of Christmas, without creating items that can only be worn once or twice – before being discarded. COP27 has shone a light on the negative impact of fast fashion on the environment. We can’t continue at the same fast pace. At Ducky Zebra we are committed to slow, sustainable fashion – while still getting in the mood for Christmas, having fun, and inspiring kids to be whoever and whatever they want.”
