SUMMARY:Exploring Strengths in Autism - A Zine Making Workshop Study
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition features a collection of Zines created by 18 autistic young people who participated in the “Exploring Character Strengths in Autism – Zine Making Workshop Study”\, led by Dr. Jiedi Lei’s research team at the University of Oxford. This research study focused on helping autistic children and young people challenge unhelpful stereotypes associated with how autism is portrayed through popular film / TV and media\, and to change the narrative by recognising their personal unique strengths and abilities through exploring Character Strengths.   \nCharacter Strengths make up 24 universal traits that we all hold (e.g.\, Bravery\, Creativity\, and Kindness) and motivate us to take action in everyday life. All young people created Zines – a do-it-yourself publication – that showcased their individual stories of exploring strengths use in everyday life. Guided by young people’s voices and their Zine creations\, we hope that visitors will learn about autism through a strengths focused lens to celebrate individual differences in neurodiversity.   \nThis work is supported by the Public and Community Engagement with Research (PCER) Fund at the University of Oxford and The Paul Foundation.

SUMMARY:Measured Truths: Exhibition by Toussaint J. Miller
DESCRIPTION:Fusion Arts is excited to present new works by Toussaint J. Miller. Measured Truths is a new body of ceramic sculptures created to confront the hidden violence within modern medicine’s visual culture. \nThe work responds to specific historical case studies in which photography\, anatomical illustration\, and clinical documentation were weaponised to fix the Black body within narratives of racial hierarchy. \nToussaint J. Miller is a multidisciplinary artist working across ceramics\, music\, and the histories of science and medicine. His practice forms part of a broader inquiry developed through his Masters at the University of Oxford\, examining medical ethics and representations of Black subjects in American medicine. His abstract sculptural forms reframe these histories\, foregrounding humanity often obscured within archival records. \n4 – 12 June 2026\nOpening event: 4 June\, 6-8pm\n12-7pm weekdays\, 11-6pm weekends\nFusion Arts\, 15 Park End\, Street Oxford\, OX1 1HH \nThe entrance to 15 Park End Street is step-free. The closest accessible toilets are in the nearby cafes and train station. \nAll welcome! Looking forward to seeing you there!
