ABOUT
Penny Maltby Designs produces luxury silk scarves, accessories, cards and gifts. Penny combines her love of textiles and the heritage craft of straw work and corn dolly making to produce digital designs based on her straw creations. Her scarves are printed and hand finished in the UK. Penny also teaches straw work skills, makes film and TV props as well as giving talks and demonstrations all under the moniker Ministry of Straw. I love being a maker and creator and have a passion for heritage crafts. Alongside a lifelong passion for textiles and embroidery, I have added straw worker and artist to my skill set. Working with natural materials and passing on my skills to others through teaching and demonstrations gives me huge pleasure. With Oxfordshire’s long history of farming and my daily walks in the countryside, I get plenty of inspiration from the changing seasons. Over the years I have also developed a fantastic network of other amazing artists and makers in the local area.
