Always online, and open in the gallery Tuesday to Saturday by appointment.
Irving Contemporary is a contemporary fine art and ceramics gallery based in Oxford. In addition to the curated selection of art and ceramics available through the online gallery, Irving Contemporary curates regular exhibitions, both solo and group shows, within the viewing space of their home gallery in East Oxford. This art space is located within the home of its owner, and so work is shown in the modest, domestic setting of a Victorian mid-terraced house located in the vibrant and creative Magdalen Road quarter.
Irving Contemporary places a strong emphasis on originality and quality, and work which will stand the test of time. Owner Vanessa Lacey seeks out both emerging and established artists and makers whose work has a clear and enduring aesthetic beauty.
I opened Irving Contemporary in 2019 after 15 years working in academic publishing. By the time I launched with my first exhibition in November 2019, I had wanted to return to the visual arts and to set up my own business for some years, so it was the realisation of a long-held dream. I love working with artists and makers to bring their work to new audiences, and to offer my community a wonderful curated selection of beautiful work and objects.

Our favourite new addition to Oxford’s growing gallery scene, Irving Contemporary, is a jewel like gallery space in East Oxford. Vanessa has a great eye and her calendar of carefully curated exhibitions always captures our attention.
