British Cooking with Sophie’s Cookery School @ Oxford Quaker Meeting | England | United Kingdom

Discover real British cooking at its very best…made with the best British produce, and genuine traditional recipes that you will love cooking and eating with us.

Join us in our town centre cooking classes to learn how to make the kind of traditional British dishes that you won’t find in most restaurants and cafes.  From the strangely named Toad-in-the-Hole (local sausages cooked in a Yorkshire pudding batter) to the sublimely indulgent Sticky Toffee Pudding – with its cascade of butterscotch sauce.

Choose from our three mouthwatering classes:

Summer Lunch – Puddings – Afternoon Tea

When? Our classes take place every Friday, at the following times:

10:00-12.00   Summer Lunch

13:00-15:00   Puddings

16.00-18.00   Afternoon Tea

Classes start promptly, so please arrive 10-15 minutes early.

How long?   Our classes last for 2 hours, which includes approximately 1.5 hours cooking, and ½ hour to sit down and eat the foods we have cooked.

Do I need to bring anything? We provide everything you need to cook Great British food – equipment, ingredients (seasonal and local wherever possible) and of course, an inspirational, knowledgeable teacher.

We provide disposable plastic aprons, but if you prefer to bring your own, that’s even better!

Will I understand? Our classes are taught in English, but we believe that the language of food and cooking is universal. Using a mixture of demonstration and hands on cooking, smiles and sampling, we’ll make sure that every guest understands how to cook our  British classics.

Will it be difficult? No!   This is home-cooking and we will show you how to tackle any techniques required to produce a great result.

Dietary problems? If you have any special dietary requirements  (allergies, intolerances, other food exclusions), please contact us by email (britishcookingoxford@gmail.com), BEFORE BOOKING. We are happy to accommodate where possible.

Please note that our Puddings and our High Tea classes are not suitable for those with a gluten-intolerance or coeliacs

Need more help?  Email us on britishcookingoxford@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
