A Celebration of Fair Trade
Fairtrade at St Michaels was the first shop in Oxford dedicated to offering a wide range of Fairly Traded goods. To mark the shop’s 15th anniversary we have invited local artists to create work in response to the theme of Fair Trade.
Fair Trade works on many different levels, from the farmers to the policy makers and everyone in between. Fair Trade is a fascinatingly diverse and complex subject and I wanted to bring together a range of art that comments, questions, and celebrates it. The Artwork explores concepts of female empowerment, politics and tradition. These pieces have been incorporated within the shop display, acting as a response to particular products, techniques and ideas.
